History of the Rokewood Corindhap Football Netball Club

Rokewood was first mentioned as having a football team in 1888 in a competition called the Wilson Cup.

Then the Rokewood & District Football Association commenced in 1896 and continued until 1924 which included both Rokewood and Corindhap teams. In that time Corindhap won two premierships in 1921 and 1922.

There was some form of merger between Rokewood and Corindhap prior to World War 1. However, after World War 1 the former merger partners developed strong rivalry as once again separate football teams. Rokewood had not won a premiership up to the end of 1924.

Then Rokewood and Corindhap joined the Rokewood Cape Clear District Football Association which commenced in 1925 and continued until 1933. Finally, Rokewood had premiership success in 1926 and 1928. At that time Rokewood wore black and gold jumpers and Corindhap wore black and white jumpers.

In 1932 Rokewood and Corindhap officially merged to form one club. Sometime after, the club wore dark green jumpers with a gold sash. Rokewood Corindhap Football Club joined the Western Plains Football Association in 1934 which then became the Western Plains Football League in 1935, the league continued until 1998. Rokewood Corindhap won its first premiership in 1947.

In the 1950’s the club changed to an emerald green jumper with a white V which remains the clubs’ colours to present day.

Rokewood Corindhap went on to win premierships in 1957, 1963, 1967, 1978, 1979 and the wonderful three-peat premierships of 1992, 1993 and 1994. The club also won five reserve and six junior premierships whilst part of the Western Plains league.

The Western Plains Basketball Association commenced in 1966 and was later changed to the Western Plains Netball Association in 1972 with Rokewood winning only one premiership, the Under 16 junior team in 1972.

The Rokewood Corindhap Football Netball Club joined the Lexton Plains League (which was a merger of the Lexton league and the Western Plains League) when it commenced in 1999 and remained there until 2010, winning a senior football premiership in 2002 as well as six reserve football and one Under 12 junior football premierships. Also, during that period the club won a C grade netball premiership in 2009 and an Under 12 netball premiership.

In 2011 Rokewood Corindhap joined the Central Highlands Football Netball League which the club is still a member of to this day.
